About Me

Nan Gray

Nan Gray is a watercolor artist who lives and paints in Park City, Utah. Nan has a love of travel and is inspired by everyday scenes and encounters that are often considered very ordinary in their locales, but actually are quite extraordinary when visited through the eye of an artist. Nan brings these scenes to life with water and color. Sometimes serene and often whimsical, her paintings offer a variety of viewing experiences. Since moving to Park City, the focus of her painting has been the beautiful scenery, stories and activities that abound in the Park City area.

Nan has been involved in artistic pursuits for as long as she can remember. She won her first art contest at the age of six, sponsored by the Sandy Becker Cartoon Show in New York City. Her painting was featured on television and she was sent a prize that was much too large for her to carry home from the post office. She was hooked for life!

Nan Gray has studied colored pencil and watercolor at the Petersen Art Center in Salt Lake City, UT for the past eighteen years. Her paintings have been included in numerous juried exhibits and shows in the Salt Lake City and Park City areas, winning awards in over fifteen group shows. Additionally, her work has been included in a book on art techniques by a local artist and author, she has illustrated a book cover for an Arizona novelist, has been a poster artist for the Soldier Hollow Sheepdog Classic and has been a participating artist in the Kimball Arts Festival.

Nan is a career special educator; nine years ago she retired as the Utah State Director of Special Education. Although she still remains dedicated to students with disabilities, she has since had a little more time for her art.
